Come for produce grown in your neighborhood, by your neighbors, stay for the live music, friends and fun in the sun!
The UFC sponsors a weekly barter market every Sunday at 2pm beginning on June 27th and ending on September 19th. We hope to extend our market season each year, as we accumulate more land and human resources.
Our market location will be announced well in advance. We are currently in negotiations with the Masons on Mississippi to see if they would allow us to use the lot just South of the rebuilding center. If you know any of the Mississippi Street Masons, put a good word in for us. We would love, love, love to be offered this location.
The barter market features the total harvest grown on all UFC land with working member labor. The market also features food grown sustainably by our independent UFC growers.
UFC members may also bring their own tables to sell arts, crafts, jokes or whatever their little heart desires. The only requirement is that you be a UFC member and that you accept our barter currency for payment. UFC barter currency may be used to make purchases at the market or to purchase UFC sponsored garden labor in your gardens. No federal note moneys allowed.
The barter market is a family friendly environment and we encourage you to bring your kids as there will be a “Kid’s Corner” which will be staffed every week with child care professionals facilitating fun and environmentally friendly kid’s activities.
Every week we will feature Live Performances on the Garden Harvest Stage.
Local musicians and performers are also working for produce. Feel free to leave a bag of carrot seed in their guitar box.
