REGIONAL GARDEN MANAGER {Janette Kaden}: You must be an experienced and knowledgeable manager as well as a seasoned gardener. You will be responsible for soliciting, procuring and assessing an estimated weekly barter value to all land share donations. You will be responsible for reporting the total number, square footage, location and productivity of all UFC donated land to the General Manager. You will organize and advertise regularly scheduled neighborhood work parties. You will ensure that the people, tools and inputsare where they need to be, when they need to be there. You will be in regular communication with the Neighborhood Garden Managers to ensure that all UFC gardens are being maintained and harvested to UFC standards of sustainability. You will also report on the total number of outstanding barter shares for labor hours and/or donated inputs. Outstanding barter dollar totals and estimated total food production must be communicated to the Exchange Coordinator to help ensure that produce is valued appropriately.

NEIGHBORHOOD GARDEN MANAGERS {Susan Wiencke: Southeast, Sean Muller: Northeast, Joy Ceilidh: Cully: Southwest…more NGMs needed }: You will be in charge of implementing and leading the regularly scheduled work parties for the neighborhoods in which you reside. This is an instructor’s position, as one of the benefits to working members is that they receive a gardening education while they work. You will distribute one barter share per labor hour at the end of each work party. To the Regional Garden Manager, you will report on the number, square footage, location and estimated productivity of all UFC gardens in your neighborhood. You will also report on the total number of barter shares issued to working members for labor hours and input contributions, such as starts or compost.

GARDEN EDUCATION COORDINATOR {Susan Wiencke}: Design and manage the entire educational arm of the collective. You field and answer any gardening questions that flow through the listserv. You will conceptualize, organize and execute all UFC sponsored, seasonally appropriate workshops. You will also conceptualize, organize and implement the UFC Youth Farm.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR {Jess Byers}: Manage the UFC presence on the world wide web. You communicate with the web master about any changes, announcement, press coverage, pictures, etc. You are responsible for maintaining our listserv as well as all on-line social networking sights, such as facebook, ning and wiki.

EVENT COORDINATOR {Evan Martin}: Conceptualize, organize and execute two UFC events; a Seed Starting at the beginning of the season and a Harvest Party at the end of the season. You will send out press releases to local newspaper, radio, television stations as well as the General Managers at least two weeks before a UFC event.

BARTER MARKET MANAGER {Holli Prohaska}: Will ensure the smooth organization and execution of the weekly barter market. You will ensure that all Growers and Neighborhood Garden Managers sign in and list the type and amount of produce they contributed to the collective. You will find and hire family-friendly entertainers to perform at the barter market in exchange for barter shares. You will organize a ‘kids corner’ and an ‘education corner’ for the barter market. And finally, you have the best job in the collective; taking all left over UFC produce to the charity of choice.

 EXCHANGE COORDINATOR {Ari Rosner}: Head of accounts, in charge of the collective’s internal currency system at the barter market. You must be present at all markets as you will be responsible for assigning a value to all market contributions. You will be in regular communication with the Regional Garden Manager about the estimated total harvest and the total number of outstanding barter dollars. Higher values will be assigned when food is scarce and lower values assigned when food is bountiful.

 WORKING MEMBER COORDINATOR {Beck Barger}: Recruit members through the sale of membership dues. You will track and report on the number, dues paid and demographic of all UFC members. You will put together a compelling flyer aimed at getting folks to become members. You will design, print and implement the distribution of flyers at various large neighborhood gatherings throughout the growing season. (Good in the Hood, Art Hop, Last Thursday, etc.) You will communicate with the General Manager and Communications Coordinator to ensure that all new members are added to appropriate email and listservs. You will be in regular communication with the Treasurer with regard to dues received.

TREASURER {Ari Rosner}: Responsible for keeping an account of all real dollars that flow into and out of the organization. You will report on these figures to the General Manager on a monthly basis.

 FUND RAISER {Needed}: Will use your skills and experience to raise as much money for the UFC as possible. You will encourage membership dues payments that are appropriate to the level of income of our members. You will conceptualize, organize and execute fund raising events. You will conceptualize, print and send a “Sponsor a garden” donation letter to the membership. You will keep track of all donations and dues received and report numbers to the Treasurer.

 GENERAL MANAGER {Janette Kaden}: Person's responsible for ensuring that all members; administrators, growers, land sharers and working members have what they need to succeed are held accountable for their commitments. You maintain UFC emails and field all UFC inquiries…by either answering or directing inquiries to the appropriate administrator. You will be responsible for a monthly e-newsletter that goes to all UFC members and reports on our progress toward building a sustainable, local, barter-based food economy. You will be the spokesperson for the UFC. You will be in regular communications with administrators to assess and address any issues that may arise within the collective. 

SUSTAINABLE BUILDING MANAGER {Carly Boynton}: Responsible for oversight and execution of all construction projects, including raised beds, greenhouses, water catchment systems, water timer and irrigation systems, plant supports, etc. You are a teacher, builder as one of the benefits of volunteering is that you learn something new while you work. You are encouraged to cooperate with Garden Managers on design and to arrange work parties for installation.
